Choose Your Hard

I was recently watching a show called “Fit to Fat to Fit”. It’s a pretty interesting show to be honest. Trainers (there’s a different trainer each episode) gain a huge amount of weight (sometimes up to 40% of their body weight!) in four months so that over the next four months, they can lose the weight together with a special client.


Regardless of your feelings about the show, that’s not what I’m here to talk about today. I want to talk about something one of the trainers said that really resonated with me. He said “choose your hard”.


Now you might be wondering what the hell he was talking about, so here’s where I explain.

We all know that getting up and working out is hard. Cooking healthy meals is hard. Meal prepping and eating clean is hard. But so is looking in the mirror and not liking what you see. That’s HARD! Being uncomfortable in the skin you’re in is hard. Your body not doing simple things without being in pain (i.e. walking, sitting, standing, bending) is… HARD.


My friends, everything we do in this life has a degree of difficulty to it. Everything from getting up in the morning, to dealing with kids, going to work, working out, cooking, making the right food choices… they’re all difficult on some level.


So the next time you’re faced with a challenge, whether it’s staying on track with a workout routine or meal prepping, just remember you’re choosing your hard. Choose how you’re spending your energy, be that physically or emotionally. And make sure you’re making the right decision for the future you.
